The Third Annual Wivelsfield Village Day Saturday 16th July 2011

Saturday 16th July 2011 from 10am - 4:30pm there was a Village Day in the Village Hall and on the Recreation Ground.
Despite the weather, there was a fantastic turnout and a great time was had by all. It takes more than a little shower to damped the spirits of Sussex folk as is proved by the photos which you can see here.
Clubs within the village and those who use the Village Hall & Recreation Ground were running side shows, displays of the clubs activities or selling merchandise. There were also commercial tradestands and businesses within and connected to Wivelsfield helped with sponsorship, activities and organisation.
Attractions included:
- Harris' Traditional Funfair;
- A Miniature Steam Railway;
- Fire Engine and Police Car - real ones, not for rides;
- Smarter Living Trailer from Lewes District Council;
- A fun Companion Dog Show;
- Go-Karting track.
In the main arena there was a Tug-of-War competition, children's football match and pantomime and space-hopper Donkey Derbies (would you like to be the back or front end of a donkey?!?)
Sunday 17th July 2011. At 10:30am all were welcomed with tea & biscuits. A service was led by Christopher Breeds at 11:15am in the Village Hall.
This was followed by a picnic in the hall (due to the weather) -
please go to www.thebiglunch.com
for more information. People were asked to bring their own picnic but puddings were be
supplied by the church.
In the afternoon there was due to be a cricket match, but unfortunately following the rain and a pitch inspection, this didn't go ahead.
This was a fabulous day / weekend for the whole family.
